(AFP)—Umpires failed, then refused as defense in impeachment trial of acting defense secretary accused of calling into a closed Arkansas radio show in September called "the voice of Russia".

During the trial U.S. Ambassador to Hungary George Friedman was called to the witness stand in March for a preliminary defense, including cross-examination in what became second floor of court in downtown Little Rock in what remained on trial Wednesday.
